A Moment of Lucidity streaming

Shot mostly at Uluru, the rock in the heart of Australia. The extreme heat damaged the emulsion of the film which is subsequently incised by the filmmaker. A ceremonial death and rebirth. The soundtrack was made by the Orchestra of Skin and Bone comprising of Ollie Olsen and John Murphy. The aborigines were from Narwietooma Station. 16mm....

The project explores the inner struggles of the artist, the fears, anxieties and thought patterns that, to some extent, drive their existence. The artist's voice, sporadically reciting diary-like entries, guides you through a world built as a visual representation of their emotions. The resulting experience is surrealist in nature, but also deeply intimate....

An unearthed time capsule consisting of footage of the maker's youthful self – an “exquisite corpse” with nature as collaborator. Bourque buried random out-takes from her first three films (all staged productions dealing with her family) in the backyard of her ancestral home (adjoining the grounds of a former cemetery) with the ambivalent intentions of both safe-keeping and unloading them (she was relocating). Upon examining the footage five years later she found that the material contained images of herself captured during the making of her first film. That discovery seemed handed over like a gift and prompted the making of this film, a metaphysical pas-de-deux in which decay undermines the image and in the process engenders a transmutation....

Two fragments of 8mm home-movie footage shot by the artist near Berlin weave together in repeating cycles of action, temporal manipulation, and colour distortion, heightening the viewer’s awareness of film-time and the film-image, and perception of colour in motion....

Le Grice no longer simply uses the printer as a reflexive mechanism, but utilises the possibilities of colour-shift and permutation of imagery as the film progresses from simplicity to complexity… With the film’s culmination in representational, photographic imagery, one would anticipate a culminating “richness” of image; yet the insistent evidence of splice bars and the loop and repetition of the short piece of found footage and the conflicting superimposition of filtered loops all reiterate the work which is necessary to decipher that cinematic image. - Deke Dusinberre...

An attempt to constitute a human / machine dialogue. It shows the filmmaker’s blood as seen / heard with the eyes / ears of the machine which is a film projector with optical sound. He affixed his blood onto clear film leader by cutting into the flesh and then pressing the film leader onto the wound. Additionally he had blood taken with a syringe and afterwards dripped it on the film leader. fresh and clotted blood was used....

Vast horizons and hollow landscapes. Figures in funeral gowns swaying from reality. Withering within without wunnienuther, we wandered windswept as heartswept....

Broersen and Lukács construct a replica of Białowieża primeval forest. Roaming this virtual forest is Iranian opera singer Shahram Yazdani, who performs his version of Nature Boy, echoing Nat King Cole’s hit. In Forest on Location, nature is viewed as a mirror, reflecting our own perception....

An audience is guided through a forest. Invited to settle in a clearing converted into a "cinema", they discover a nocturnal film that begins like a kind of animal fiction, but gradually offers a disturbance on the moment lived. The film is an mise en abyme, a deforming mirror: the reality lived and its temporality are slightly twisted....
