Three slackers from Grand Rapids drive across America in an old motorhome searching for a mysterious folk music festival in the desert. Along the way, they encounter many obstacles including suspicious border patrol guards, alien abductions, bad haircuts, bad dreams, and bad directions. Finding a music festival in the desert turns out to be more difficult and strange than they expected....

Impressive sound design, non-linear editing, great ‘expressionistic’ locations and b&w cinematography, this is an experimental piece for Pialat, a psychological/gothic thriller of sorts......

This film is a newsreel, which presents some views, scenes and mo-ments of the class struggle in Madrid. The “Movimiento 15-M” is the first major “movement” in the beginning of the 21st century. A deep movement, trans-border and trans-historical which reactivates and works ideas and concepts that were long thought to be forgotten: demos, logos, revolution ......

Maniac Summer consists of images and sounds recorded in Paris in the summer of 2009. It is a sprawling triptych without a beginning or end and with no specific subject or topic. The camera is positioned in front of a window and left running. It observes movements, registers noises coming from the street or nearby park, captures Chantal Akerman going about her business in her apartment: smoking, working, talking on the telephone. Fragments from the artist’s everyday life are featured in the installation’s central video, while the adjoining panels are more symbolically charged; in them, various images from the former have been isolated, modified and repeated. These abstract afterimages act as a kind of memory, looking back to the images in the installation’s centrepiece as so many shadows of its reality....

A song of love to the city of Genoa. The film wanders the streets of the city center and explore the beautiful cemetery and then climb the hills which offer an amazing view over the old town crossed by a highway and port....

Says Dominique Païni: "Tree Games, produced between 1928 and 1931 by Émile Malespine. Like all artists and intellectuals of the 1920s, [Malespine] “touched everything,” including architecture, theater and obviously... cinema. We know little, to this day, about the films of Malespine, of which this one looks [...] Exceptionally beautiful, free and inventive. The team which surrounded Malespine (his family?) is having fun in Tree Games. The relationships between architectural geometry and the random geometry of tree branches, between grid and circle figures, between positive and negative freely alternating, between the blurry and the definite, form a dazzling catalog of the plastic obsessions of an era." Though extant in silent form, the film was shot and edited to the Fugue in A minor (BWV 543) by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Sonata K.9 (F.525 / L.413) in D minor by Domenico Scarlatti....

The film consists of two identical prints shown simultaneously, one projected inside the image of the other. The inner image is out of sync one second in advance of the larger image creating a dynamic inter-play between the overlapping frames....

Frame by frame, letter by letter, this film aligns riddles/answers from 6 rolls of Super-8, with the structure, poetry and imagery posed by Ugandan crossword puzzles. Across & Down is a study of simultaneous simplicity and complexity and the resulting serendipity and chaos....
