American Gladiators is an American competition TV show that aired on NBC and Citytv in Canada. Hosted by Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali, the show matches amateur athletes against each other and the show's own "gladiators" in contests of strength, agility, and endurance. It is a remake of the original series of the same name which ran from 1989–1996, with elements of the UK version of the 1990s. The show is refereed by Al Kaplon, a former American League umpire, who can also be seen as the referee in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. Play-by-play narration is handled by Van Earl Wright. Season 1 was taped at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California. Beginning with Season 2, the show moved to the Los Angeles Sports Arena. It is produced by Reveille Productions and MGM Television. American Gladiators premiered on Sunday, January 6, 2008; an average of 12 million people watched the two-hour premiere. All other Season 1 episodes aired Mondays at 8:00 ET/PT, except for the finale, which aired Sunday February 17, 2008 at 7:00 ET/PT. Season 2 premiered May 12, 2008, on NBC, with a two-hour episode. ECW was a professional wrestling television program for WWE, based on the independent Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion that lasted from 1992 to 2001. The show's name also referred to the ECW brand, in which WWE employees were assigned to work and perform, complementary to WWE's other brands, Raw and SmackDown. Living Lahaina is an American reality television series on MTV. The series, filmed over a three-month period on location in Lahaina, focused on a group of twenty-something surf instructors and their father-figure-boss at the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy. Living Lahaina also followed cast members throughout travels to Indonesia, California, and Kauai. Living Lahaina premiered on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 10:30 p.m. on MTV and was scheduled to run for eight episodes. However, only 3 episodes were shown on MTV. Following the style of MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, The Hills and Maui Fever, Living Lahaina was shot in the format of a scripted television show. Cast members did not speak directly to the camera. Instead, the show made use of a Dukes of Hazzard style voice-over narrative periodically throughout each episode, to give background or sum up storylines....

Jackpot Bowling was a professional bowling show on NBC from January 9, 1959 to June 24, 1960 and again from September 19, 1960 to March 13, 1961. Jackpot Bowling was the first national TV bowling show since Bowling Headliners aired in the early days of television. Jackpot Bowling aired on Fridays at 10:45 PM following the Cavalcade of Sports Friday Night Fight. Leo Durocher was the show's first host, but bowed out after only two shows and was replaced by Mel Allen. Allen's lack of bowling knowledge made him an unpopular host, however. On April 10, 1959 Bud Palmer became the show's third host. Allen returned in October 1959 and remained with the show until April 1960, after which Palmer returned and hosted through June. The show was put on a brief hiatus after the June 24, 1960 episode, as its Cavalcade of Sports lead-in had ended its run on NBC. When it returned on September 19, 1960, a retooled version hit the airwaves; the series not only moved to Monday nights at 10:30, but Bayuk Cigars replaced Phillies Cigars as sponsor, the Hollywood Legion Lanes replaced Wayne, New Jersey's T-Bowl as the show's venue, and Milton Berle took over as host with Chick Hearn providing play-by-play. The show now ran 30 minutes, and the professional bowler challenges were supplemented with segments of celebrities being interviewed by Berle and then rolling a shot for charity....

Under the Moon was an offbeat, late-night 1990s sports show on the United Kingdom's Channel 4. The show was originally hosted by Danny Kelly and comedian Tim Clark. The pair lasted for 10 episodes before Tim left to be replaced by another comedian, Tom Binns. Binns was axed from the show after he offered to "give Michael Owen one up the arse" after he scored an impressive goal in the 1998 World Cup. He was replaced by Lisa Rogers but the show was cancelled later that year. The show consisted of sports guests, live phone calls from viewers, comedy from Binns, music, and reports — all connected to sport. Although a sports show, after the main show had ended, Kelly would later act as an in-vision host providing links to the next programme and were thus listed as part of the show. Examples of these were repeats of the now defunct Channel 4 GamesMaster which ran between 1992-1998. Regular guests included Martin Johnson and Roger Black....

RollerJam is an American television series featuring roller derby that aired on The Nashville Network from 1999 to 2000. It was the first attempt to bring roller derby to TV since RollerGames. RollerJam was derived from the original roller derby, but newer skaters used inline skates to modernize the sport. Celebrity Deathmatch is a claymation television show that depicts celebrities against each other in a wrestling ring, almost always ending in the loser's gruesome death. It was known for its excessive amount of blood used in every match and exaggerated physical injuries. The series was created by Eric Fogel; with the pilots airing on MTV on January 1 & 25 1998. The initial series ran from May 14, 1998 to October 20, 2002, and lasted for a 75-episode run. There was one special that did not contribute to the final episode total, entitled "Celebrity Deathmatch Hits Germany", which aired on June 21, 2001. Professional wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin gave voice to his animated form as the guest commentator. Early in 2003, a film based on the series was announced by MTV to be in the making, but the project was canceled by the end of that year. In 2005, MTV2 announced the revival of the show as part of their "Sic 'Em Friday" programming block. Originally set to return in November 2005, the premiere was pushed back to June 10, 2006 as part of a new "Sic'emation" block with two other animated shows, Where My Dogs At and The Adventures of Chico and Guapo. The show's fifth season was produced by Cuppa Coffee Studios and the premiere drew over 2.5 million viewers, becoming MTV2's highest rated season premiere ever....

American Gladiators is an American competition television program that aired weekly in syndication from September 1989 to May 1996. The series matched a cast of amateur athletes against each other, as well as against the show's own gladiators, in contests of strength and agility. The concept was created by Dan Carr and John C. Ferraro, who held the original competition at Erie Tech High School in Erie, Pennsylvania. They sold the show to The Samuel Goldwyn Company where the concept was enhanced and became American Gladiators. An effort in 2004 to launch a live American Gladiators show on the Las Vegas Strip became mired in a securities fraud prosecution. However, the television series was restarted in 2008. Episodes from the original series were played on ESPN Classic from 2007 to 2009. Several episodes are available for download on Apple's iTunes Service....
