Who Dares Wins was a British television comedy sketch show broadcast between 1983 and 1988, featuring Jimmy Mulville, Rory McGrath, Philip Pope, Julia Hills and Tony Robinson. It was one of the first TV outlets for alternative comedy and was broadcast by Channel 4 late at night in a first attempt at "Post-Pub television". It was eventually aired by the Playboy Channel in cable television outlets in the United States. The show's title is also the motto of the British Special Air Service regiment, whose badge featured in the title sequence, and was often supplemented by a subtitle, e.g., "a week in Benidorm". Mulville, McGrath and Pope had all contributed material to Not the Nine O'Clock News. Other script material was provided by Not the Nine O'Clock News regulars Colin Bostock-Smith and Andy Hamilton as well as alternative comedy writer Tony Sarchet. The series established Mulville's Hat Trick Productions as a producer of comedy material for Channel 4. The show was recorded at the former independent production facility Limehouse Studios, on a soundstage in front of a live audience....

Aly & AJ: Sister Act is an MTV television special featuring behind the scenes look of the lives of musicians/actresses Aly Michalka and her younger sister by two years, AJ Michalka, better known as Aly & AJ. The special premiered on August 18, 2007, as part of a My Super Sweet 16 marathon named "Aly & AJ's Super Sweet Playlist" hosted by the sisters, in which the sisters commented on their favorite episodes of the series. It premiered with little advance publicity, but did have a segment of the Michalkas introducing the special, as well showcasing the MTV original television film Super Sweet 16: The Movie, which the Michalkas starred in. The special showcased what goes on in the lives of the two sisters, such as getting their drivers license, first car, and writing the songs from their third album, Insomniatic. The special was produced as a pilot for an intended series, but did not continue due to the Michalka's busy schedule at the time....

The Altar Boy Gang was a satirical half hour comedy developed for the Canadian television network CBC Television in 2007. Although two episodes were shot and four more were commissioned to be written, the show was not picked up as a regular series. The two pilot episodes of this series written by Norm Hiscock aired on CBC in 2007. The show drew much angry response from Catholic groups who felt its portrayal of altar boys as drug dealing hooligans was offensive. Also the depiction of a Catholic priest who inadvertently ingests LSD was seen as disrespectful. Others enjoyed the shows and saw them merely as character studies of less-than-perfect people finding their way in the world. Kelly Makin, the director of the two pilot episodes, and David Makin, the director of photography, worked with Norm on the television show The Kids in the Hall. Andy Jones, who played the role of Father Sand, also wrote with Norm on the last season of The Kids in the Hall. Dan Redican was the story editor. The song "Soldiers of Christ" by the Canadian band Blood Meridian was the title music for the show....

Nilsson, who has hosted the show since 2004. Current team members include Babben Larsson, Robin Paulsson, Johan Rheborg and Johan Glans. Kodjo Akolor has also been featured. The program is a Swedish version of the short-run British show If I Ruled the World, which itself was as spin-off from Have I Got News For You - both produced by Hat Trick Productions. The comedians are divided into two teams, red and blue, representing traditional political colours. At the end of the show, the audience vote for the winners based on which team was funniest....

Newstopia is an Australian half-hour satirical comedy programme hosted by Shaun Micallef. The first series premiered at 10:00 pm on SBS TV on 10 October 2007 and concluded on 3 December 2007. A second season began on 27 February 2008 and concluded on 30 April 2008. A third season of the show screened from 1 October to 3 December 2008. The show was developed by Micallef, Gary McCaffrie, Michael Ward and Jason Stephens, with McCaffrie and Ward working as writers on the programme. A fourth series in 2009 was planned, but cancelled due to production clashes with Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation.
